Industrial separators for meat and food processing
Industrial separators are used to efficiently separate soft product parts from hard or unwanted components such as bones, cartilage, tendons or skin. These machines play an important role in the meat processing, fish processing and food industry, where high yield and consistent product quality are essential.
Depending on the application, different mechanical separation technologies are used. The industry mainly relies on three separation principles:
- Rotary separation – separation through a rotating screw and perforated drum where soft parts such as meat are pressed through the holes.
- Press separation – a pressing process where the product is separated under controlled pressure.
- Belt separation – separation using a squeeze belt or press belt where soft product parts are pressed through a filter or drum while hard components are retained.
These technologies allow processors to recover valuable proteins and product material from raw materials such as poultry carcasses, meat trimmings, fish remains and other by-products. Industrial separators therefore help achieve higher yields, reduced product loss and more efficient raw material utilisation.
Global leaders in this segment include Baader, Beehive / Provisur, AM2C, LIMA and Sepamatic, known for their advanced mechanical separation technologies.
